Designing a Packaging Plant

When designing a packaging plant, nothing can be left to chance and everything can be optimised! Spaces, machines, processes and people: the plant's layout must be adapted to the project's specificities and requirements. When the opposite happens, the design was not produced with efficiency in mind. THE EFFICIENT PACKAGING PLANT Designing an efficient plant requires experience in, and knowledge of, the packaging and automation industries. It isn't just about designing a plant that fully complies with current regulations, which is nevertheless an essential factor. Through experience, we can define EACH element on the basis of objectives and efficiency, both upon installation and also over time. For example, experience makes it possible to calculate the optimal downward gradient for a conveyor belt, as well as the most suitable engine type, according to carried weights, so as to avoid rapid wear and downtimes. Or to estimate the minimum access space for the maintenance of a specific machine, depending on the inlets used more frequently. This translates into a more reliable plant, in faster and more effective processes, and, of course, into saving considerable time and money. DESIGNING A PACKAGING PLANT: PROCESSES AND AUTOMATIONS When designing a packaging plant from scratch, the layout of the production space needs to take into account the processes, but also vice versa. This is why we usually put forward several project proposals. It isn't just about optimising spaces. It is also about configuring an environment in view of the utmost production efficiency, considering output, maintenance, equipment and goods handling, as well as any future developments. When plants are already in operation, we can design integrated transport solutions for handling. These can include: ● height-adjustable conveyor belts ● lifting machines ● vertical elevators to handle products at different heights and allow for transit ● continuous spiral elevators Through design, we can also integrate specific automations, such as a bag orientation device, in order to "feed" vertical packages into the case-wrapping machine.
